Drawing on over 165 years of watch-making history, Glashutte Original manufactures exquisitely engineered, luxury watches that excel in both precision and aesthetic appeal. Operating its own manufacture in the German town from which it draws its name, Glashutte watches are made of 95% in-house parts – a rarity for a luxury watch company. The cornerstone of the Glashutte manufactory is a workforce of expert craftsmen who demonstrate an attentiveness to detail and excellence in engineering, a tradition that dates back to 1878. At that time, one of the primary watchmakers at Glashutte Original opened the German School of Watchmaking Glashutte, which quickly earned a sterling reputation as a training ground for incomparable horologists and artisans. The design of each Glashutte watch continues to bear the exacting trademarks of the brand, including a distinctive three-quarter plate visible through a skeleton case back, a ribbed finish to the watch movement, 18 kt gold chatons to hold each jewel securely in place, and 45 degree beveling of the edges to ensure water resistance and durability, amongst others.
