The IWC Aquatimer Expedition Charles Darwin IW379503 (2014 limited edition) is IWC’s tribute to the father of evolutionary theory and the HMS Beagle’s historic Galápagos voyage. For the first time in Aquatimer history, IWC used solid bronze for the case — a special aluminium-bronze alloy that develops a unique, individual patina over time, making every watch truly one-of-a-kind.
This rugged 44mm diver (16.6 mm thick) features a deep green dial with massive luminous hands and indices, IWC’s patented SafeDive internal/external rotating bezel (operated by the left-side crown), and 300 m water resistance. The bronze bezel insert and crown contrast beautifully against the case, while the exhibition caseback reveals the in-house Calibre 80110 automatic movement with Pellaton winding, 44-hour power reserve, soft-iron anti-magnetic cage, and a bronze medallion of Charles Darwin engraved on the rotor.
