The Monaco was originally introduced in 1969 in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix. This was a ground breaking watch when it was launched as it was the first square cased automatic chronograph. The iconic Steve McQueen also wore a Monaco in the 1971 movie Le Mans and the Monaco watch is still synonymous with McQueen.
